Great coverage….thank you for it. It certainly provided more details than what other stations provided. Clearly there are more issues coming to light regarding this project than most people were aware of. Interesting connection between the developers and others involved via their other LLC where it was disclosed that their partner on that one was on the housing authority? This will get even more interesting as it moves forward.
I agree, great coverage. Thanks for providing the Ustream video. Ballantyne Scoop seems to be the only new outlet providing all the facts for both sides of the rezoning petition.
Well, as they say…you can fool some of the people some of the time…but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time. Now it’s time to let the press do their jobs and dig. I’m just glad that neighbors of all backgrounds took a stand against what looks like possible corruption.
The question of the relationship between a representative of the CHA and the developer needs to be addressed in more detail.I understand the developer(s)will be paid $20,000 by the CHA for attempting to get the property rezoned? Was their LLC partner on the other project who now (or did) work for the CHA the one giving them the necessary adivce on how to restructure their rezoning. Did that person have any input on the fee they will be receiving. Of interest is the fact the CHA contact has left the CHA? By choice? It is of course in the best interest of the CHA to avoid the taint of this relationship. Notice the resaon they are giving is it was too expensive and not there was a possible mole inside their organization. Could this be another ABC farce only time will tell.
So, the Observer breaks the real deal tonight in a well done article, but my comments on a statement by Mr. Proffitt in tonight’s article…
Just one last thing. Mr. Proffitt states that everything he did was “100%” above grade. Really…suppose he wants to start talking about that fraudulent phantom company that he took money from the the city for and SIGNED for in December called “11109 Providence West,LLC”? BUSTED! This guy is scum…don’t let the door hit him when he leaves this town…
Thanks for the excellent coverage. Despite the moaning in the media, it turns out that the deal was brokered by shady business partners (which led to two CHA employees leaving their jobs). The company that signed the dotted line didn’t legally exist. Finally, Republic Development Group didn’t meet the zoning criteria. Every story is not as sensational as the media wants it to be.
